There is no doubt that Cristiano is one of the greatest footballers of our era. Throughout his career he has won number of trophies and individual awards in club and international level. Cristiano started his professional career from Sporting CP before moving to Manchester United on 2003. After moving to Real madrid on 2009/10 and to Juventus on 2018, he returned to Manchester United on 2021. Throughout his professional career in these clubs, he won number of trophies which includes 5 UEFA Champions League titles (3 with Real Madrid, 2 with Manchester United), 5 Ballon d’Or awards (best player in the world), 4 European Golden Shoes (top goal scorer in Europe), 7 league titles (3 Premier League titles with Manchester United, 2 La Liga titles with Real Madrid, 2 Serie A titles with Juventus) and UEFA Euro for Portugal.
Despite of being such a successful player many questions are raising whether Ronaldo has lost his form recently. On 2022 After growing dissatisfaction with the direction of United on and off the field, Ronaldo missed the club’s pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia due to family reasons. With the declining form and negative attitude Ronaldo lost his place in the starting lineup to Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, only featuring in Europa League matches. During 2022 Ronaldo was continuously either benched or dropped due to poor performance and disciplinary issues.
On 14 November, an interview with Pier Morgan was published, where Ronaldo said that he felt “betrayed” by Ten Hag and senior executives who wanted Ronaldo to leave the club, and accused the club of doubting him regarding the illness of his daughter that led him to miss pre-season, adding that he did not respect ten Hag “because he doesn’t show respect for me” which resulted in termination of Ronaldo’s contract with Manchester United.
After being not wanted by any European clubs Ronaldo signed for Al Nassr where he received the highest football salary in history worth €200 million per year. Ronaldo scored a brace against PSG in a friendly match to claim the return of his form but he is yet to score for Al Nassr in a competitive match. Ronaldo started in two competitive games already for Al Nassr but hasn’t shown effective performance. Recently Al Nassr were knocked out of Saudi Super Cup following 3-1 defeat and reports claim that manager blamed Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance also for cup exit.
In conclusion, many questions are being raised regarding his poor form and he has not yet been able to silence those negative comments and doubts regarding poor performance.
